I wanted to see this as I like Kate Winslet and Idris Edba as actors only felt a bit let down after the first 30 minutes of the film. This makes The Mountain Between Us feel like a "movie" rather than a "story," and so we just wait and wait for precious moments that will successfully entertain, few and far between they are. When the plane goes down they are seriously stuck in the Utah mountains in the dead of January winter. I don't mind films like this but you could have had anyone really doing this, Kate and Idris should take this off their CV's!! This is what I kept thinking as I watched The Mountain Between Us and was dumbstruck by the powerful lack of chemistry between its leads, each an accomplished actor in their own right. Even so, I found myself glued to the story and rooting for these two to make it and stay together. Beautiful people, beautiful scenery.

Given the life-and-death survival, it seems shocking that the film has such low or non-existent stakes. I even felt the actual plane that crashed was a bit cheap looking. Idris Elba and Kate Winslet both give extraordinary performances.
