A great ensemble cast with good performances from all three major leads although it does take a few minutes to get over all the prostheses on Steve Carell's nose. When the shocks come, they're no less shocking despite the expectation. Channing Tatum plays a champion wrestler who gets persuaded by wealthy benefactor,John Du Pont,played by Steve Carell,to join his Foxcatcher wrestling team in advance of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He also sees himself as a patriot and wants the U.S. to take the gold again at the Olympics, and he wants to help however he can (read: it’s a vanity project). This based on true events story is a challenging watch at times but strong, intense performances and an unsettling air of tension carry things through and ultimately make for a rewarding experience.
