Korup National Park is in the Southwest Province of Cameroon and extends over 1,260 km2 of mostly undisturbed primary forest. Korup National Park is one of Cameroon’s rainforest protected areas and was gazetted in October 1986 by Presidential Decree N° 86 -1283 of 30th October 1986. Animal abundance also remains naturally low because of the forest’s low productivity.Access to Korup is from the isolated village of Mundemba, which is located 5 hours driving from Buea, and about 6 hours from Douala International Airport. The array of flora and fauna species has attracted researchers for decades and provides an abundant opportunity of wildlife viewing for those who are interested in nature outside the typical Africa box.Witness the variety of primates scampering through the trees and across the rainforest floor is a highlight for most travelers. It is now under the colonial administration of the Department of Wildlife and Protected Areas in the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MINEF).
